The magical street, a major attraction since 2003 in Bordentown, will not put up Halloween displays that attracted thousands of people annually.
At least, this year.
"We know many people have been asking about Halloween on Thompson Street already. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be on this year," organizers said on Facebook.
"We do not know if we will be back on next year so keep checking back. We thank you all for your Halloween Love & Appreciation!"
The post drew hundreds of reactions on Facebook.
Lisa Jones Bunker wrote: "While this is disappointing, I think many of us understand this tradition is time-consuming and expensive."
And Beverly Smith said, "We all appreciate the many years of Halloween magic you have provided."
The event was put on each year except during the coronavirus epidemic. It was sponsored by Pat Patrizio and Frank Rios who decorated their house.
They suggested that Halloween-goers visit Flemington for the Stangl Road Witch Walk & Moon Market for a fun event. This event is run by a long-time participant of Halloween on Thompson Street, they said.
The 2nd Annual Stangl Witch Walk is set for Friday, Oct. 27 from 5 to 10 p.m. This year's theme is "cemetery," organizers said.
There will be an adult costume contest, music by DJ Lawless and a movie. "Let's make Stangl THE destination for Halloween fun!" organizers said.
